6 Ways To Support the Cancer Survivor in Your Life 1. If you think of them, send a text, meme, or a card. Do not expect a response - their #1 focus needs to be on getting well/getting through treatment. 2. Genuinely listen to their concerns and fears without minimizing or trying to solve. Just be supportive! 3. Offer to do things within your wheelhouse: place a grocery order, go to the post office, take their dog for a walk, start a Go Fund Me… Don’t offer unless you can follow through and don’t over-commit. 4. Offer to sit with them in meditation, prayer or silence. Or, offer to come over and binge watch a season of a fav TV show! 5. Things ARE happening (politically)! You know it. They know it. Don’t avoid talking about cuts to medicaid, rising healthcare insurance costs, cancer funding and research and the ending of drug trials which could impact their treatment and lives! Don’t just say you support them, make a call to a legislator and speak up! The time is now! 6.
